Packing Materials You Can Use for Environment-Friendly Shipping

It is not uncommon now that some shippers prefer to use packing materials that are not expensive and beneficial for the maintenance and protection of the environment. This is indeed a good initiative that is advantageous both for business and ordinary people who advocate such thing unless, otherwise, unfavorable to the security of the items. Such a case may be confronted by the shipper when the choice is between keeping the goods safe by using those materials which contribute a lot to pollution and the likes that may also harm human health and are expensive, or the ones which are proven to be environment-friendly and inexpensive but cannot provide full protection on certain items. Nevertheless, this is not always a problem as the choice of packing materials is usually dependent on the content of packaging; but if you want to go “green”, these are the materials best to use:

Packing Materials You Can Use
Paper Bags

Not only is this material lightweight, but also recyclable and are available in most homes including yours probably. You can make use of them to pack boxes or as an additional material to secure your goods. It is recommended to use many paper bags, lay them flat, and crumple to serve as cushion which is beneficial to avoid any stain on the items as what is usually the case in using newspaper.

Old Linens

It is also practical if you can find old linens and other scrap materials at home that can be used to wrap your shipping items. They are said to be one ideal packing material for the common goods such as those found in home being shipped usually by individual shippers. And the benefits of wrapping the materials with old linens are you can avoid wasting them and keep your package fresh and protected.

Shredded Paper

You may probably have some unused papers in your room and they can be perfect to use as packaging material if you want to save money. This is one way of recycling such material yet without sacrificing the safety of your items as they are said to be best especially for picture frames and ornaments that are packed inside the box with shreds. But if you do not have this at home, you can ask a relative or co-worker to provide you if they have and by that they would know your commendable purpose.

Ziplock Bags

By simply inflating the ziplock bags with air, you can already have bubble just like air packets used by the post office and UPS. This is beneficial as the material can provide consistent cushion while your items are being transported, and reduce the cost of shipping given that such has lower weight. It is also noteworthy that the ziplock bag can be used together with paper shreds, paper bags, and old lines for a well-secured packaging.

Wood Chips

This is the best option if you want to save money and keep the items fresh as the wood chips are lightweight and able to absorb moisture. However, it is wise if you use them for the contents being protected in individual packages or boxes considering that they can produce dust.

There is indeed a great advantage if you use the aforementioned packing materials given that you are not only securing your items, but also protecting the environment.
